Clinical Perspectives:
Pain Management

Pain, whether acute, subacute or chronic, can present in many forms and intensity, significantly impacting quality of life. However, there are many pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic (both opioid and non-opioid) modalities available that can be useful tools for controlling pain. Understanding the risks and benefits of each type of treatment, including opioid analgesia, is imperative to safe and effective pain management.

Learn more about the different types of pain and treatment modalities for analgesia, guidelines for informed prescribing and risk evaluation/mitigation, and resources for counseling on safe opioid use as well as recognizing and managing opioid use disorder (OUD) by exploring different topics within the portal. Additional resources including animations and immersive simulation centers can be found in HD Visual Learning.
